Apprentice Questions: What’s Your Greatest Accomplishment?

Today’s Question is from Dwane J Tillis Jr in our New Orleans, LA office. Mathew Laborde, President & CEO of ELIFIN®, shares his insight.

Dwane: Since starting Elifin, what would be your number one accomplishment within the company so far?

Mathew: Typically, those that start commercial real estate brokerages are existing commercial real estate agents. Typically, these agents are great producers but aren’t great managers or leaders of companies. One of the big challenges is that while they may be amazing agents, they really struggle with building a team that provides a high level of service to clients.

What I’m most proud of is that we have built a large and growing team that goes beyond me and delivers better service to clients than I ever could. They are specialists who know what they’re doing, focused, extremely committed, and talented. Hiring these people, putting the structure in place, and implementing the coaching has been a huge accomplishment that I’m very proud of.

ELIFIN® apprentices are encouraged to be curious and ask questions to get the most out of the program. “Being an apprentice is different than being an intern,” says Mathew Laborde, President & CEO of ELIFIN®. “It’s more exclusive. It’s more substantial.” ELIFIN® apprentices dig into hands-on work from day one, getting experience that sets them apart in the commercial real estate industry and beyond.
