192 multi-family units and clubhouse proposed near BTR
The January 21, 2019 issue covers forty-four commercial permits issued in Baton Rouge the previous week and three Planning Commission cases. The cases included 192 multi-family units and a 4,835 SF clubhouse proposed on 11.18 acres on the west side of Plank Road just south of Harding Boulevard, a Woodlawn Baptist Church case, and a controversial request to rezone approximately 12 acres of single-family residential land to General Office Low Rise at the intersection of I-10 and Siegen. Among the permits: a gas test on Building 3 at 1350 Bob Pettit Boulevard and occupancy for Vacation Planners on Brakley Drive.

Controversial Office Rezoning at I-10 / Siegen
These 2 cases requests rezoning approximately 12 acres of Single Family Residential (A1) land to General Office Low Rise (GOL). The area is located at the intersection of I-10 and Siegen next to a residential neighborhood. According to documents 81-18 and 82-18 the proposed use is 175,000 SF and 900,000 SF of office space, respectively. This case has received pushback from residents, read the Business Report story.
