Today’s Question is from Caden Leblanc in our Baton Rouge, LA office. Alex Ruch, a Senior Associate in Industrial Sales & Leasing at ELIFIN®, shares his insight.
Caden Leblanc: My question to you is, what’s more important: mindset or skill set?
Alex Ruch: Mindset over skill set, all day. You hear all the time about someone who was really good at sports but never made it as far as they could have. I don’t think those failures were due to a lack of skills. It was due to a lack of the ability to persevere, the ability to get up day in and day out and put those skills to work, and continue to hone those skills.
Especially in a sales role, there are lots of ups and downs. You could be a smooth talker and very intelligent, but if you don’t have the ability to get back up after a deal falls through, all the skills in the world won’t overcome a poor mindset.
