How competitive is commercial real estate?

Selling commercial real estate may be a competitive and possibly stressful job, however you do not need to be aggressive or cutthroat in your business practices to do very well in the industry. If you are able to convert leads and continually bring in a new string of business, even in market turns, you will have a competitive edge over other agents.

There are a number of ways you can set yourself apart from your competition. Developing a niche or specialty area of sales may give you the opportunity to businesses that others have overlooked. For residential agents, this could be a type of property such as historic district, farmland, farm properties, etc.).  For commercial agents, this could be a type of situation, such as franchise purchase, or a type of property, such as medical and dental office space.

Constantly working to improve your education, skills and abilities will also give you a competitive edge. Working to learn new sales techniques, new technology, and new ways to help your clients will show your dedication and enthusiasm, as well as give you talking points when pitching your services to new clients.
