How Do I Get into Commercial Real Estate?

Getting into commercial real estate requires a level of dedication and commitment all its own. Because of this, it’s important that you take some time to assess why you really want to be in commercial real estate and how badly you want to make it a reality.

The first step to getting into commercial real estate is to make the decision to do it. Once that’s done, the real work begins. Persistence is key to succeeding in commercial real estate. A large part of the job is facilitating the process of persuading businesses to open in certain locations that would benefit their business. In this case, you’re not trying to convince them to do anything they don’t want to do, but rather demonstrating the value you could bring if they allow you to join their team and work with you.

This type of work requires persistence. Many times, business owners are content to keep things as they are, and it becomes your job to show them the value of making a move and working together. You can’t be turned off or discouraged by someone who doesn’t take your call. They’re probably just comfortable where they are and haven’t really assessed the benefits of making the move.

Being able to treat this job as a challenge and then finding creative ways to get in front of these people will help ensure your success as a commercial real estate broker. Getting the attention of potential partners and having them take a serious look at you through persistence and creativity will help ensure your success.
