21 Jun Louisiana Native Vasanji Providing Safer Affordable Housing in North Baton Rouge and Across Gulf South
June 21, 2022- Baton Rouge, LA – Since 2013, developer Vedant Vasanji has completed work in numerous sectors of real estate including multifamily housing and property management. In January 2018, Vasanji was drawn to the Baton Rouge market after seeing the Greenside Ridge Apartments as a potential opportunity. The 60-unit apartment complex on Prescott Road in North Baton Rouge had been on the market for some time and needed renovation. Vasanji acquired the property along with another 20-unit complex nearby, Howell Park Place Apartments, and began renovation work.
“There are lots of great people living in the 70805-zipcode,” says Vasanji, “and they deserve safe, affordable, and modern housing.”
Vasanji says the goal of his redevelopment efforts in North Baton Rouge was to provide safer affordable housing opportunities to residents and families. “It’s just a drop in the bucket, but it only takes one drop at a time to transform a neighborhood.” He wanted to provide a family-oriented haven for residents to call home: a modernly furnished place that they are happy to stay in long-term.
After renovating the properties with new flooring, new paint, new LED light fixtures, new energy-efficient appliances, new camera systems, and refreshing the exterior of the properties, Vasanji renamed the complexes to Signature One and Signature Two Apartments and enlisted Mark Segalla and Keagan Finley of ELIFIN® to sell the properties.
He recently sold the two complexes to a reputable investor and has utilized a 1031 exchange to acquire a 20,000 SF neighborhood market strip center in Hammond, LA.
Vasanji is currently working on developments in seven neighborhoods across Gulf South Louisiana. He says that he enjoys seeing positive change and growth take place and hopes to continue transforming neighborhoods in Baton Rouge and across Louisiana.
